Supplements and Arthritis Pain Relief
It’s widely estimated that around 75% of sufferers take supplements to help with arthritis pain relief, whether it be vitamins or minerals, or a combination of the two. Some use a multivitamin and mineral tablet, while others believe in trying out a pill with a single nutrient which they reckon will be of particular value to them. It’s a fact that a lot of people who have arthritis are sometimes malnourished, with deficiencies in one or more nutrients, so it’s recommended that they take a multivitamin and mineral supplement that will provide 100% of the U.S RDA ( Recommended Daily Allowances ). Even if you stick to a healthy diet, arthritis can interfere with the way your body uses some of the nutrients from food, so you may have to take supplements, even as a precautionary measure. A word of caution is probably appropriate here. Although you can now get multivitamins over the counter or by mail order, you should really have a chat with your doctor before starting to take any. Although side effects are rare, they can occur. It is certainly not advisable, either, to take very high quantities of vitamins and minerals. The fat soluble vitamins A and D can very easily build up in your body, and can lead to various complications. Too much vitamin A can actually cause joint pain in some people, while too much vitamin D can weaken the bones in some folk. Although it’s known that some supplements can help with arthritis pain relief in quite a lot of cases, it’s worth remembering that there is still no scientific proof that they can change the course of the condition.
